[Phew... funny how one little request would crack things open like that. Guess I really have to give Battler credit; he caught that immediately. But who's this Gretel that showed up? Beatrice definitely wasn't expecting her, that much was obvious. Maybe I can get a chance to talk to her.]

[He's a little more social than he was during the last intermission, at least.]

Aren't there supposed to be longer breaks between trials, Nick?

I guess witches run trials a little differently than regular people, Maya.

[Can't say I would mind taking a few days off myself already.]

[Phew! We were nearly swamped, for a moment there. Looks like Battler managed to help Nick out again! But, who's that Gretel person, anyways?

Oh well, time to eat more cookies and prepare for the next trial!]

[ And if you expected Gretel to say anything during the break, you're absolutely wrong. She's definitely not going to be social, but will pipe up from her corner of the room that she's been standing in if spoken to, eyeing everyone closely.

[ She replies in a cold voice and a shrug as if it's no big deal. Whatever. ]

[Eventually MARIA comes over to talk to her. It only happens after a lot of staring, though.]

[ Older, maybe. But she's not that tall. She's pretty average for her height. ]

[MARIA has a plate piled high with delicious cakes and cookies and she's sitting in the spectating gallery now with the other witches, kicking her feet back and forth and humming to herself. Occasionally she punctuates the humming with an 'Uu!']

[Yep, that sure is that dead girl. The one at the crime scene he investigated. The one with the letter in her hand that no one would help him pry out and he had to do it himself and it was all super gross and heartbreaking. And then there she is, after laughing at his testimony.

This dream sucks.
