HAPPY★FOREVER

Hello and welcome to the wonderful world of Cosmonei! Wait, what kind of intro is that? You were born here. I'll start again.

Cosmonei is a happy land of magic and adventure. The core of this world's soceity is Battle, ritualized magical combat that takes the place of true violent conflict. Two sides conjure spells woven out of their own identities, and the clash between them serves not just to determine a winner and a loser, but to communicate with one another. The ideas each brings into the conflict clash against each other as magic, and both emerge with a greater understanding born of the two sides. Or maybe you just emerge with a decision on who's cleaning the kitchen. Clashes between enemies, fights between friends, job interviews, dates, all of them can spark a Battle of some form or another. It's a hobby, a sport, a way of life, a form of art, and self-expression, all rolled into one.

Of course, Battle isn't always all fun and games, either. When rifts between people become too wide, Battles between them may fail to reach a peaceful resolution. If you bring hostile emotions into a Battle and fail to resolve them, then the loser could get hurt, or worse. The ideal of this world is for Battle to be used to bring people closer together, never to tear them apart. The world, on a whole, is peaceful... but not as peaceful as it could be.

Cosmonei is on the cusp of a great, mysterious change. A handful of kids face one final test of Battle ability before they can become adults. Their trial crosses paths with a mysterious figure who promises a future stained by despair, where all Battles are fought to the death. The foundation of the world begins to crumble, and its nature shifts towards darkness.

With reality crumbling and shifting around you, will you be able to heal your world?

Happy Forever is a future campaign run in either Valor Alter or Valor, not sure which. Inspirations include Earthbound, Undertale, Deltarune, Touhou Project, and a couple other things I'll disclose later. It is not yet ready for signups.

About Cosmonei
Here's some info about the setting for you:
  • Cosmonei is a high fantasy world, with lots of extremely varied magic and weird, inconsistent levels of technology. A half-slime with a magic umbrella drops by the local coffee shop and orders a legally distinct frappucino.
  • Humans, elves, dwarves, beastfolk, robots, goblins, and all kinds of other people and monsters live together, with no boundaries between races. If it can Battle, it has rights.
  • Battling is a part of life, but regular physical fighting is a massive taboo. If you're going to fight someone, do it with magic, not your fist (although fists and swords can be powerful ways to transmit magic in a Battle).
  • The more you Battle and the more you come to terms with who you are as a person, the stronger your magic becomes.
  • Powerful Battlers will gain unique spells of incredible might, rooted in the core concepts of your identity. These powers are called Archspells.
  • Sometimes, an Archspell is born not of one's identity but of a knot of stress and anxiety that you can't extract from yourself. This dangerous variant is called a Darchspell.
  • Mechanically, every Battle will have a battle vibe value, from 1 (violent) to 10 (fun). You'll have the ability to speak or act in order to move the vibe in either direction. The lower the vibe, the more brutal the Battle, and the more severe the injuries and consequences for the losers.
  • This is not a video game, so there's no requirement that every Battle end with a positive vibe if you want to get the true ending. However, depending on the circumstances, violent Battle resolution may have serious consequences.

Good!

baseball slides in here, hi this is sable with a character concept idea so i don't forget it at some point!! this is heavily disjointed, just as a warning, and i may nix/add on bits to it maybe

Nyctimystes 'Misty' Amphibia
- so a long time ago i found a picrew that did these cute animal people and came up with the idea of a dignified little frog girl with an absolute penchant for spellcasting in battle. i'm thinking someone with a heavy flower motif; the flowers she uses in battle are a way to get her feelings across, with her using her umbrella as something of a conduit to make them bloom. might have some minor abilities with light magic and water magic, since flowers need light and water to prosper too.
-- might also be able to summon tea leaves and insists on taking tea to try and talk out problems.
- may be some member of a nebulous frog elites, if possible??? or just. from a giant family of frogs and trying to prove herself. she has a great many siblings, and just as many aunts and uncles and the like perhaps.
- she's really just trying to find her place in the world. being one of many siblings kind of means that one can get overshadowed pretty easily if they don't excel, and she wants to excel! really, really badly. like, desperate to find a purpose in life levels of badly.
- though, she hides that under a very self assured and confident demeanor. she's every bit the lady she looks like she is and is expected to be. takes tea, maintains a calm disposition (for the most part), and definitely the type to let out an OHOHOHOHO or something.

Emily here dusting off some long-dead ideas ripe for anything inspired by UT/DR

Concept A:
Enter Halloween, an undead girl stitched together from various corpses, created by an unknown master for an unknown purpose. On the surface, Halloween might seem like a contrarian troublemaker, but underneath that, she's desperate to find a purpose and a meaning to life, and then underneath that she realizes her purpose in life is to be contrarian and a troublemaker.
-She's here to cause problems on purpose
-But she's not like a bad bad guy
--Unless her maker comes into play and she's forced to do a heel face heel turn that will turn face again later
-basically somewhere between Susie and Lancer
-Obsessed with gothic, halloween-y aesthetics
HERE have a song for her

Concept B:
Meet Sunset Carousel, the Witch of Colors. Technically, the Apprentice Witch of Colors, but her master's been gone for a long time so it's kind of her title for Real now. She works as a performer as in a traveling circus to make ends meet while searching for her lost master. Her magic lets her color things and change their properties along with their color, and it's very good for small shows.
-A more earnest option
-She's here to solve problems
--but maybe cause some on accident in the process
-...and make friends!

I might have more ideas later. Or not. The fun of planning for a thousand years in the future!

Dis Wing, with a couple different flavors of Robots Undergoing Self-Actualization

-Joust, robot knight-squire, made to serve and all that, possibly came to self-actualization via a particularly intense, serious-vibed Battle, realized what their siblings were all made for and that they were considered expendable, and didn't particularly care for that.
-Wanna do like, the tank who is very conflicted about doing tankly duties because of their spite-filled limited worldview and have them get better about it.

-Cheffy (better name pending), line cook robot. Got involved in an intense Battle for the sake of protecting customers in danger!
-Now there's more to life than just their cooking job??? Holy SHIT.
-ADVENTURE!!! CULINARY PUNS! BEING AN OBJECT-HEAD!

Heylo this is Ryan, and I have too many ideas. Here's the top layer of the pile.

  • Baggi- Baggi is an old BESM character of mine who would fit right in here. It is a piece of luggage (a wheeled suitcase to be specific) that was forgotten at an airport for so long that it began to contemplate its existence and gained (among other things) sentience. After it became able to propel itself it of course wanted to explore the world it had been denied for so long. However, it soon learned that ambulatory storage faces certain...social difficulties. As a solution, it learned to generate an illusion of The Very Busy Businessperson™ to better interact with humanoids.
    • good character to have around for exposition prompting questions
    • might have trouble forming strong party bonds
    • whose bag is he? why did he gain sentience? what in the world is inside?
  • Pine Everspring- Originally a witch who specialized in cleaning and preservation magic, Pine became inspired to adventure after a close call taught her how short life is. Now her goal is explore the wildest places, see the rarest sights, and leave those who think they can hassle her with a Battle memory full of citrus scented regret.
    • very straightforward, fun silly, goes where the action is
    • lack of concrete long term goals may make her difficult to motivate
    • behold the power of pinesol
  • Jules and Ian Tyndarid- Prefacing this with the fact that I don't know how to make this work mechanically but I've wanted to find a place for this concept for the longest time. A summoner and their doppelganger summon, accidently perma-summoned as a baby, raised as siblings, not knowing which is which and wanting to keep it that way
    • strong conceptual identity, difficult mechanically, could be a pain for everyone involved
    • Siblings who love each other but have to deal with each other a little too often
    • No matter how much you love your siblings sharing memories has gotta suck
    • If forced at some point to confront which is which, lots of emotional fallout about what (if anything) that means

It's Badge. Gonna slip in here with a concept so I don't forget it:

Yuuto Watanabe: A highly intelligent student who excels well in many ways, but is reserved and cautiously polite to others. Yuuto is on the spectrum, and as such his powers reflect the sort of microtraumas and irregularity that normal communication on the spectrum can result in. His biggest obstacle will be finding a way to be both comfortable with himself but also capable of communicating in a way that can reach out and connect to others... but how does someone born with inherently poor ability to gauge emotions do such a thing?

1. Your name/handle: Emily the [plurk.com profile] deerleisure
2. Are you available on: Mondays (after OPG,) Wednesdays (after Godbreakers,) Fridays (after or alternating with Kingdom Valor,) Saturday afternoon (ending before 8 ET), Sunday afternoon (ending before 6 ET), Sunday evening (after Gundam)
3. Character concepts.
3a. Child concept: Teenage catgirl coming into her own, very LGBT, wow how very emily, yes. Child of two capitalist big-corporate cats (her dad wears a top hat and has a monocle) who disapproved of her attitude and life choices and disowned her. Big themes about finding community with other like-minded people, about people coming together to help one another, etc.
3b. Adult concept: A corporate drone who was never meant to think for itself, working tirelessly for its corporate overlords. One day, during a typical workday, it experienced a random act of kindness from somebody outside the company and it gained a sense of awareness and self, and left on a madcap adventure to find its own identity, while presumably being tracked down by corporate, HR, and the scientists who made their worker drones.
3c. Amnesiac. Seems like a good story for one, whether child or adult route.
4. The best Paper Mario companion.

1. Echo
[plurk.com profile] EchoDoctor

2. Available for all of these dates after 5 PM EST.

3. Options include:
-Nixie, princess of dreams! A fluffy-haired, sheep-horned girl from the mystical land of the subconscious.
-The copycat, everybody's very best friend! Which is to say, a pathological people pleaser to the point where it's become a supernatural power. Has a TV for a head, the screen of which changes to reflect whoever she talks to. Agrees with whoever she's talking to at the time, no matter how much mental gymnastics it requires.
-Nadezhda Yahontova, former professional wrestling sensation and current high school gym coach. Terrifyingly intense about 1. taking care of yourself and your body and 2. literally everything, all the time. Going to get these kids to eat three good meals a day and do some proper warm-up stretches before battles if she has to fucking kill someone.
-Charity, a very normal young woman who is definitely not an unusually large, sapient orchid mantis pretending to be a human being. Why would you suggest that? They mimic flowers. The idea that their abilities could have advanced to the point of mimicking this extremely normal and human person is clearly ridiculous. Don't be silly.
-The amnesia option. Just fuck me up.

4. Vivian.

3. Yuuto Watanabe: A highly intelligent student who excels well in many ways, but is reserved and cautiously polite to others. Alternatively:

Fluffernutters: A dog. With a voice box that can sort of translate what she has to say. Mostly says variants about loving people and wanting treats and walkies. Has extremely powerful but poorly directed feeling magic.

2. Are you available on: Sundays
3. Character concepts:

Doll who crashed from outer space and has no memory of how she got here but she's pretty sure she's here to have fun and battle, right? Not a full amnesiac, she's been around for a while and has plenty of treasured memories here. Also, yes, I am kinda playing girl Geno (from the original Mario RPG), kinda.

4. The best Paper Mario companion.
Geno, wait, no, Paper Mario. Goombette, I like the nerd.

1. Your name/handle: Hannah [plurk.com profile] lastbastion
2. Are you available on: Wednesdays? Fridays? Sundays? All in the evening, except debatably Sunday: After Godbreaker, after/alternating KV, and after Gundam, yeah!
3. Character concepts:
- A baby robot! Built for unclear purposes, but living their life as a child in a high-tech world, trying to learn everything they can. Firmly believes that after a Battle, everyone is friends, and their dreams are to become human, and to become friends with everyone in the world.

- A bunny girl pirate from a world just absolutely lousy and overrun with pirates, but the adventurous rascal kinds. She's a young captain who has been put into the position of captain despite still being a young teen, and is trying hard to live up to the title. in pirate world, Battles are used where the winner gets loot from the loser.

4. The best Paper Mario companion: honestly i really liked Tippi. she probably doesn't count for this but. i must speak my truth.

1: Art ([plurk.com profile] ArtwildenTanzen
2: Fridays and Sundays, text only if every, voice ok every other.
3: So I have a few - an awakened dog who Battles for loyalty! A catgirl who has nyansensical powers over light! A fairy with a penchant for plant magic in a crowd-control sense! And I can come up with more if needed.
4: They're all so good, but I like ghosts, so Lady Bow.

1. Nerdie @ [plurk.com profile] nerdiethings

2. Available on: Available Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays (depending on KV), Sundays.

3. Character concepts.
3a. Child concept. Pumpkin Girl. Easy name is Jackie, funnier name is Squash, funniest name is Peepo. She's a pumpkin, she's a girl, she's off into the big city against the wishes of her parents to learn something about life and the world, and maybe make a few bucks while she's at it. She's decided that she's got a list of 108 goals she has to complete to make her life worthwhile and she's gonna complete all of them, by god. Perky and friendly, but incredibly paralyzed at the idea of not leaving an impact on the world and lets her own interest in being "important" blind her to the problems of others.
- alternate species: frog, skeleton

3b. Adult concept. Dr. Windham/Winifred Baggins. Academic burnout studying the nature of Battle and magic in general. Dipped in and out of various studies for years, offering very little contributions, despite best efforts to seem smart. Disgraced after a battle with a literal Think Tank. Only wears labcoats or peacoats. Sloppy ideas, potentially an exposed plagiarist. Gender not set in stone, potentially in-game too if I wanted to run with that. Baggins is a windbag, also potentially literally full of hot air.
- alternate species: puppet, rabbit, rabbit puppet
