Mimori Togo was not the first hero chosen by the Chalice, nor would she be the last. When the call came, she answered it with enthusiasm. When the Vertex became powerful enough to kill her best friend, the Chalice gave them new powers to fight back. When she lost her legs, the Chalice granted her modified powers that would allow her to keep fighting regardless.

Over time in each generation, the sacrifices add up. From ground level, it can feel pretty bleak. Thusly does Togo find herself in the Grail chamber, otherwise alone. She lowers her head, as a seated proxy of the traditional kneel.
