[Welcome to the library!]
[Perhaps you are here because of the magic tomes, perhaps you are here to steal some of the magic tomes, perhaps you are here to talk to the librarian, or perhaps you just sort of wandered in, but whatever the situation, it appears at first to be a massive, abandoned labyrinth of bookshelves. Aside from any noises you make yourself, the silence here is almost tangible.]
[Either after few minutes of exploration or immediately after you disturb any of the more valuable books, you hear someone approaching from around the next corner.]
Visitors are to give notice three days in advance. I don't believe I'm expecting anyone, which makes you an intruder.
Which kind of intruder do I have today: A cat, or a mouse?

I have a hypothetical question. I am asking for sociological research purposes, so don't read too much into it.
Suppose, hypothetically, you defeated somebody in a magic duel over something that turned out to be a huge misunderstanding, and afterwards, they refused to stop holding a grudge against you. What would be the best way to diffuse that sort of situation?

[Through either necessity or relentless, tenacious nagging, you have somehow convinced Patchouli to partake in some physical activity! Probably something grueling and unpleasant, such as walking at an unhurried pace on a flat road.]
[Which is why, after a staggeringly short amount of time, Patchy looks about ready to keel over from exhaustion. Her response to any questions does not make it more clear whether she's really that tired or just being melodramatic.]

Can we take a break yet? I feel like I've been at this for hours. Twenty... no, thirty minutes should be plenty.
Whatever's waiting for us at the end of this road, it can't possibly be worth it.
